Whatever works, la última cinta del director estadounidense Woody Allen y la que supone su regreso a Nueva York tras cuatro años de rodajes en el extranjero, se estrenará el próximo 22 de abril para inaugurar el Festival de Cine de Tribeca.
“Es una idea adorable mostrar mi película en un festival de cine en mi ciudad. Es muy emocionante”, aseguró Allen en un comunicado de prensa difundido por la organización del festival, fundado por el actor Robert De Niro y que en esta edición se prolongará hasta el próximo 3 de mayo.
La película cuenta con el trabajo de actores como Larry David, Evan Rachel Wood y Patricia Clarkson y supone el regreso del director a su ciudad, con la que siempre se ha identificado su trabajo.
Desde 2004 Allen no rodaba en Nueva York, ya que viajó fuera para hacer Match Point, Scoop, Cassandra’s Dream y Vicky Cristina Barcelona, filmada en España.
Escrita y dirigida por Allen, Whatever works ha sido descrita por él mismo como “una historia romántica entre gente excéntrica que al encontrarse crea muchos conflictos y problemas”.
“Yo me enamoré de Nueva York a través de las películas de Woody Allen y estoy entusiasmada con que este año la apertura del festival sea con el estreno de ‘Whatever Works’, ya que es una pieza excepcionalmente divertida que suma a todo su trabajo”, apuntó la cofundadora del festival Jane Rosenthal.

I assisted to his concert the 1 of January of 2009 in the Palma Arena, happened a lot of cold, by the big aforo that has this building, but like this could see it with his band and did not have to displace me to New York. The “bis” that did you on the subject of “Smiles and Lagrimas” did me laugh and cry at the same time, the life is like this. It would love me can see his city some day
The film Manhattan is one of my preferred, especially by his photograph. But “Days of radio” thrilled me, arrived me to the heart and to the mind. The sentence \\\”never had seen something so beautiful when going in in the building where projected the films in these years, does me feel each time, what feels a boy when going in in contact with the art.
